F4V is Adobe's Flash video container using H.264/AAC in an ISO base media file format. Audio is AAC-LC at 128 kbps / 48 kHz stereo. The MP4 container uses PSP-compatible moov atom structure. Frame rate is capped at 30 fps. Files must follow Sony's naming convention (M4V* prefix in /VIDEO folder) for the PSP to recognize them via the XMB interface.
At 480x272 on the PSP's 4.3-inch LCD, quality is perfectly adequate. The small screen size hides compression artifacts that would be visible on larger displays. At 1-1.5 Mbps, H.264 Main Profile delivers clean, watchable video for all content types including animation and fast-action scenes.
