WMV (Windows Media Video) is Microsoft's video container format, part of the Windows Media framework. While primarily a video format, WMV files can carry audio content (WMA-encoded) in the ASF (Advanced Systems Format) container. Converting Opus audio to WMV is an uncommon operation needed for specific legacy Windows multimedia systems that exclusively accept WMV files as input — including some Windows Media Center installations, older PowerPoint presentations with embedded media, and digital signage systems.
