PDF is the universal document exchange format. The PDF output uses PDF 1.7 with font subsetting — only the glyphs actually used in the document are embedded, minimizing file size while ensuring accurate text rendering on any system. Images are embedded at their original resolution with optional JPEG compression for photographs. Vector drawings from LibreOffice Draw objects are preserved as PDF vector graphics.
Bookmarks are automatically generated from heading styles (Heading 1, 2, 3) creating a navigable table of contents in the PDF viewer's sidebar. Document metadata (title, author, subject, keywords) is transferred from the ODT properties to PDF info fields.
ODT to PDF conversion via LibreOffice produces the highest fidelity output possible because the same application that creates and edits ODT documents also renders the PDF. The output is essentially what you see in LibreOffice Writer — the same engine handles both the screen display and the PDF export. The only potential variations are font-related: if your ODT uses fonts not installed on our server, LibreOffice substitutes metrically compatible alternatives. Standard fonts (Liberation Sans/Serif/Mono, which match Arial/Times New Roman/Courier New) are always available. For custom fonts, embed them in the ODT before uploading.
