FLV (Flash Video) was Adobe's multimedia container that powered online video for over a decade, from YouTube's launch in 2005 through the mid-2010s. While Flash Player has been officially discontinued since 2020, FLV files remain common in legacy media archives, older streaming server configurations, and certain Chinese video platforms that still use FLV for live streaming infrastructure.

Converting Opus audio to FLV wraps the audio in an FLV container with MP3 encoding, since FLV supports only MP3, AAC, Speex, and ADPCM audio codecs — not Opus.
