Acceptable Use Policy

Overview

This Acceptable Use Policy ("AUP") governs your use of the ConvertIntoMP4 file conversion service available at convertintomp4.com ("the Service"). By using the Service, you agree to comply with this AUP in addition to our Terms of Service. Violation of this policy may result in immediate suspension or termination of your account.

Prohibited Content

You may not upload, convert, store, or distribute any content that:

  • Is illegal: Violates any applicable local, national, or international law or regulation, including but not limited to content related to child sexual abuse material (CSAM), terrorism, or illegal drug trafficking.
  • Contains malware: Includes viruses, trojans, ransomware, spyware, worms, or any other malicious software designed to damage, disrupt, or gain unauthorized access to computer systems.
  • Infringes copyright: Violates the intellectual property rights of any third party, including converting, reproducing, or distributing copyrighted material without authorization from the rights holder.
  • Is defamatory or harassing: Contains threats, harassment, defamation, hate speech, or content that promotes violence against individuals or groups based on race, ethnicity, religion, gender, sexual orientation, disability, or national origin.
  • Violates privacy: Contains personal information of third parties without their consent, including doxxing, revenge content, or unauthorized surveillance recordings.

Prohibited Activities

You may not use the Service to:

  • Spam or bulk abuse: Submit automated, bulk, or scripted requests that exceed normal usage patterns or are designed to overload our infrastructure.
  • Circumvent rate limits: Use proxies, VPNs, multiple accounts, or any other means to bypass usage quotas, rate limits, or access controls.
  • Reverse engineer: Attempt to reverse engineer, decompile, disassemble, or otherwise derive the source code of the Service, except where expressly permitted by applicable law.
  • Impersonate: Misrepresent your identity or affiliation with any person or organization when using the Service or interacting with our team.
  • Resell without authorization: Resell, sublicense, or redistribute the Service or access to it without a valid API subscription or written agreement from ConvertIntoMP4.
  • Exploit vulnerabilities: Probe, scan, or test the Service for security vulnerabilities without prior written authorization. If you discover a vulnerability, please report it responsibly to [email protected].

Usage Limits & Fair Use

To ensure the Service remains available and performant for all users, the following limits apply:

  • Free tier: 5 conversions per day, maximum file size of 100 MB per file.
  • Pro tier: 100 conversions per day, maximum file size of 2 GB per file.
  • Business / API tier: 1,000 conversions per day, maximum file size of 2 GB per file, with configurable rate limits via API key.
  • Batch uploads: Maximum of 20 files per batch conversion request.
  • API rate limits: 60 requests per minute per API key, enforced via sliding window. Rate limit headers (X-RateLimit-Remaining, X-RateLimit-Reset) are included in API responses.
  • Concurrent jobs: Limited based on your subscription tier. Excess jobs are queued with fair scheduling priority.

We reserve the right to temporarily throttle or suspend accounts that exhibit usage patterns significantly outside normal behavior, even if within stated limits, to protect the stability of the Service for all users.

File Retention

All uploaded and converted files are automatically and permanently deleted within 2 hours of upload. You are responsible for downloading your converted files within this window. We do not maintain backups of user files. Do not use ConvertIntoMP4 as a file storage service.

Account Termination

ConvertIntoMP4 reserves the right to suspend or terminate any account, with or without prior notice, if we reasonably believe:

  • You have violated this Acceptable Use Policy or our Terms of Service.
  • Your usage poses a security risk to the Service, our infrastructure, or other users.
  • Your account is being used for fraudulent activity, including but not limited to payment fraud or identity theft.
  • You have received multiple DMCA takedown notices or copyright infringement complaints.

Upon termination, all account data including conversion history, API keys, and team memberships will be permanently deleted. Any prepaid subscription fees are subject to our Refund Policy.

Reporting Violations

If you become aware of any violation of this Acceptable Use Policy, please report it immediately to [email protected]. Include as much detail as possible, including URLs, timestamps, and descriptions of the offending content or behavior. We will investigate all reports promptly and take appropriate action.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Acceptable Use Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices, technology, or legal requirements. We will notify registered users of significant changes via email. The "Last updated" date at the top reflects the most recent revision.
