FFmpeg demuxes the MXF container, decoding the professional codec and downscaling to 1080p if the source is higher resolution. The iPad preset uses H.264 Main Profile Level 4.0 with AAC-LC stereo at 160 kbps. The primary stereo audio pair is selected from multi-track MXF audio. Interlaced sources are deinterlaced. Video bitrate targets 4-6 Mbps. The MP4 output includes faststart for progressive playback.
The iPad preset at 1080p with 4-6 Mbps preserves professional content quality well for review purposes. Broadcast DNxHD/ProRes footage looks crisp and detailed on the Retina display. Color accuracy is reduced from 10-bit 4:2:2 to 8-bit 4:2:0 consumer standard, but the visual impression is broadcast-clean. Files are approximately 2-3 GB per hour.
