Sharp decodes the HEIC image, converting Apple's Display P3 color to sRGB. The decoded pixel buffer is embedded into a PDF page using pdf-lib. Page dimensions match the image aspect ratio at 72 DPI by default, or standard sizes (A4, Letter) can be selected with the image scaled to fit. The image data within the PDF uses JPEG compression for optimal file size. PDF metadata fields (title, author, creation date) can be customized.
The image within the PDF is re-encoded as JPEG, introducing a lossy transcoding step. At high quality settings (90+), the visual difference from the original iPhone photo is negligible. Print quality depends on the source resolution — standard 12 MP iPhone photos produce excellent prints up to A4/Letter size at 300 DPI. The 48 MP iPhone 15 Pro photos support high-quality printing at even larger sizes.
