Common problems and fixes
The JPG is larger than the HEIC.
This is normal. JPG compresses less well than HEVC, so the same photo needs more bytes. Lower the quality setting if size matters more than detail.

iPhone photos can store GPS data in EXIF. Turn on the option to remove metadata before you convert.
