H.264 at a CRF of 18-23 produces visually transparent results — most viewers cannot distinguish the output from the source. At equal visual quality, H.264 files are typically 30-50% smaller than the equivalent WMV encoding found in ASF files, because H.264 is a significantly more efficient codec.
