No. FLAC preserves the decoded MP2 audio exactly as-is. It cannot restore detail lost during MP2 encoding. The benefit is lossless preservation for future use.

FLAC is typically 3-5x larger than the original MP2 track, since MP2 is lossy compression and FLAC is lossless. A 20 MB MP2 track might become 60-100 MB in FLAC.
