FFmpeg decodes the 3GPP source and re-encodes to H.264 Main Profile Level 4.1 with AAC LC at 192 kbps in an MP4 container with faststart enabled. The resolution is kept at the source dimensions or scaled to iPad-friendly sizes while maintaining aspect ratio. Main Profile Level 4.1 is supported by all iPad models.
Output quality mirrors the 3GPP source material. The low resolution of GSM phone footage (176x144 to 352x288) will appear small or blocky on the iPad's Retina display. The format conversion does not improve visual quality — it makes the content playable through hardware decoding. AAC at 192 kbps provides clear audio, though AMR-sourced speech retains its narrowband character.
