Sharp decodes the JFIF file using libjpeg-turbo, handling the JFIF APP0 marker and pixel density metadata. The decoded image is embedded into a PDF page via pdf-lib. The JPEG data stream can be embedded directly into the PDF without re-encoding for maximum quality preservation. Page dimensions are configurable: auto-fit to image proportions or standard sizes (A4, Letter). Document metadata (title, author, creation date) is set in the PDF.
When the JPEG data stream is embedded directly into the PDF without re-encoding, quality is perfectly preserved — the PDF simply wraps the existing JFIF/JPEG data in document structure. If re-encoding occurs, standard JPEG quality settings apply. Print quality depends on the source JFIF resolution.
