Quality & Performance
H.264 in MOV delivers the same quality as in MP4 — excellent at 4–8 Mbps for 720p/1080p. ProRes 422 produces much larger files (roughly 5–10x) but provides frame-accurate editing performance, 10-bit color depth, and no compression artifacts visible during scrubbing. Modern x264 encoding typically outperforms the VC-1 encoder at equivalent bitrates.
