Opus excels at the frequency range where MOD content lives (the 8-bit source samples produce limited high-frequency content), achieving better efficiency than AAC or Vorbis at equivalent bitrates. For extremely bandwidth-constrained scenarios, Opus maintains intelligible music quality down to 32 kbps — far below what AAC or MP3 can manage gracefully.
