Our pricing is intentionally simple:
- Free: 20 conversions per day with a free account, or 5 per day without signing up.
- Pro: $9.99 per month, or $79.99 per year.
- Business: $24.99 per month, or $199.99 per year.
A flat plan changes the question from "how many credits did this file burn?" to "am I converting more than 20 files a day?" For most individuals the answer is no, which makes the Pro plan predictable in a way metered billing is not. You stop thinking about cost per file entirely.
Fairness requires the reverse argument too. If you convert rarely, and when you do it is one short file, CloudConvert's free daily credits may cover you indefinitely at zero cost. Metered billing rewards light users and taxes heavy ones. Flat billing does the opposite. Know which user you are before picking either camp.
Based on CloudConvert's documented feature set, the platform does not offer media downloading or audio transcription. Those gaps matter to a specific kind of user, and they are areas we invested in early.
Social media and YouTube download. ConvertIntoMP4 includes a downloader built on yt-dlp, the open-source engine behind most serious media-download tooling. Paste a link, choose a format, and the file arrives ready to convert or save. CloudConvert processes files you already have; it does not fetch them from platforms for you.
Automatic subtitles. Our subtitle generator transcribes audio automatically. Free accounts get 30 minutes of transcription, and paid plans raise that ceiling to 2 hours. If you publish videos and currently juggle a separate transcription tool, this step is built in.
To be precise about fairness: these are adjacent product categories, not core conversion, and plenty of CloudConvert users will never miss them. But if your weekly routine looks like "grab a clip, convert it, caption it," doing all three in one place saves genuine time.
Beyond those two headline features, here is what a switch would actually hand you:
- 270+ formats, backed by a registry of 271 distinct format IDs and 1,906 verified conversion pairs across 13 named specialized engines. Verified pairs mean the combination you click has been tested, not merely advertised.
- A 17-operation PDF toolkit, including OCR for scanned documents, digital signatures, and annotation, plus PDF-to-Markdown for pulling clean text out of existing files.
- Cloud imports from Google Drive, Dropbox, OneDrive, or a plain URL, so files do not need to detour through your desktop.
- Published privacy hygiene: uploads are deleted automatically after 2 hours.
- 26 interface languages, if English is not your team's default.
- A developer API with webhooks, WebSocket progress updates, a multi-task
/v1/jobs endpoint for batching related conversions, and a sandbox that consumes no credits while you test. Official SDKs ship for Node, Python, Go, Java, Ruby, PHP, C#, Swift, and Kotlin.
Every cell below comes from verifiable sources. Where a detail falls outside this comparison, we say so instead of guessing.

We take this section seriously. There are workflows where recommending anything else would be bad advice.
- You need to choose where files live. CloudConvert lets you select EU or US storage regions. If data residency is a requirement for your organization, that is a concrete capability, and it outweighs any pricing difference in this post.
- Your pipeline lives in automation tools. CloudConvert connects with Zapier, Make, and n8n, and its multi-step jobs chain several operations into a single workflow. If your conversions are already wired into those systems, rebuilding them elsewhere will cost more than any subscription saves.
- Your usage is genuinely sporadic. Because CloudConvert bills only successful conversions and charges roughly per processing minute, an occasional user converting one short file per week may never pay anything. Flat plans favor consistent users, not rare ones.
- You value a long track record. CloudConvert built its reputation API-first, and that maturity shows in how many third-party tools integrate with it. We will not pretend a newer platform matches that history.
If two or more of those points describe you, CloudConvert deserves your business more than we do. That is an honest sentence, and we stand behind it.
Match the tool to the shape of your workload:
- Steady, recurring conversions? A flat $9.99 Pro plan removes monthly guesswork, and it bundles YouTube download, subtitle generation, and the 17-operation PDF toolkit alongside everyday file conversion.
- Occasional, unpredictable jobs? Stay metered. CloudConvert's free credits or pay-as-you-go pricing will likely cost less than any subscription.
- Compliance or automation constraints? Selectable data regions and native Zapier, Make, and n8n chains are legitimate reasons to stay exactly where you are.
The cheapest way to decide is to test both free tiers in a single afternoon. Ours works without an account at 5 conversions per day, or 20 per day once you sign up, and CloudConvert grants about 10 credits daily. Run your real files through both platforms and let the results, not the marketing on either side, make the call.
