About Edit PDF

Edit PDF gives you the tools to annotate and mark up any PDF document directly in your browser. Add text notes, draw rectangles and circles to highlight areas of interest, and apply yellow highlights to emphasize important passages.

Our visual annotation editor renders each page of your PDF and lets you click to place text, drag to draw shapes, and select areas for highlighting. Choose custom colors, adjust opacity, and position annotations with pixel-level precision. Undo any change with a single click.

Students annotate lecture notes and textbook PDFs with study notes. Teachers mark up student assignments with feedback. Lawyers highlight key clauses in contracts and add margin notes. Project managers annotate design mockups with revision requests. Researchers mark up journal papers with commentary.

All annotations are embedded permanently into the PDF as standard drawing operations. They appear identically in every PDF viewer — no special software required. The original document content is preserved; annotations are added on top as a new layer.

Common Use Cases

  • Add notes to documents
  • Highlight important text
  • Mark up designs with feedback
  • Annotate contracts and agreements
  • Add comments to research papers

How It Works

Annotations are rendered as PDF drawing operations using pdf-lib. Text uses embedded Helvetica font. Shapes use drawRectangle/drawCircle operators. Highlights use semi-transparent yellow rectangles.
