About Rotate Video
Video rotation corrects orientation problems that occur when phones or cameras record at unexpected angles. Sideways or upside-down videos are a common frustration, but our rotation tool fixes them quickly so your content displays correctly on any device or platform.
The rotation interface shows a preview of your video with one-click buttons for 90-degree clockwise rotation, 90-degree counterclockwise rotation, and 180-degree flip. You can also mirror videos horizontally or vertically for creative effects or to correct selfie-mode footage. The preview updates in real-time so you can see exactly how the rotated video will appear.
Smartphone users fix videos that were accidentally recorded in the wrong orientation. Educators correct screen recordings made with webcams at unusual angles. Event videographers fix footage from multiple cameras with different mounting orientations. Social media managers correct user-generated content before publishing.
Our rotation uses efficient processing that completes quickly while maintaining full video quality. The audio track remains perfectly synchronized, and all metadata is preserved. For videos with existing rotation metadata, we provide options to apply or remove the metadata flags for maximum compatibility with different players.
Common Use Cases
- •Fix sideways smartphone videos
- •Correct upside-down camera recordings
- •Mirror selfie videos to remove reversal
- •Rotate screen recordings to proper orientation
- •Prepare videos for displays with fixed orientations
How It Works
Our video rotator uses FFmpeg's transpose filter for 90-degree rotations and the hflip/vflip filters for mirroring. The output is re-encoded with libx264 for broad compatibility, maintaining quality through CRF-based encoding.
