Add Watermark — Free Online Tool
Stamp text or image watermarks on every page of a PDF.
About Add Watermark
Watermarking is the operation of overlaying a recognizable mark — a logo, a draft label, a confidentiality stamp — onto every page of a PDF. Two watermark modes are supported here. Text watermarks let you type a phrase ('CONFIDENTIAL', 'DRAFT', 'Property of Acme Corp') and customize font size, color, opacity, position (one of nine anchor points), and rotation angle for diagonal stamps. Image watermarks accept any PNG/JPG, ideal for logo placement on every page. Opacity slides from 0 to 100 percent so you can make the mark subtle (a faint gray DRAFT behind the content) or assertive (a bright red CONFIDENTIAL across the middle). The watermark is applied to every page at the same coordinates, so the visual rhythm of the document stays consistent. The output is a fully spec-compliant PDF where the watermark is a proper page-content element, not a separate layer — this means it stays visible regardless of which PDF reader the recipient uses, prints correctly, and cannot be hidden by toggling a 'layers' panel. For confidentiality marking on legal documents, design proofs, manuscript drafts, and pre-publication materials, this is the standard approach.

Frequently asked questions
Can the watermark be removed by the recipient?
Not without specialized PDF-editing software. Our watermark is embedded as page content, not as a separate layer that can be toggled. To remove it the recipient would need full PDF editing capability and even then it would be tedious.
Will the watermark show up when the PDF is printed?
Yes. Watermarks are part of the page content stream, so they print at full fidelity along with the rest of the page.
Can I use my company logo?
Yes. Upload a PNG (transparency preserved) or JPG. The image is embedded at the resolution you upload, then scaled to the position you choose.
What is the difference between watermark and stamp?
In PDF terminology a watermark is repeated across pages at consistent position, while a stamp is a single annotation typically placed once on the cover. Our tool produces watermarks; for single-page stamps use the Annotate PDF tool with a rectangle plus image.
Can I watermark only specific pages?
Yes. Specify a page range (e.g. 1-10, 15) and only those pages receive the watermark.
